Kinja'd!!!

What did everyone else impulsively buy for themselves this year?

Me:
Gilles Villeneuve in miniature!

Got a bonus at work for a project I had been heavily involved in. It showed up right before Christmas break, so while shopping for my family I bought myself a little present.

I bought myself a bottle of Crown and Left Hand's "Fade to Black" sampler

I highly recommend the sampler. Damn good brews

It was a really small bonus, after tax, less than 100 bucks. Figured it couldn't hurt.

Been waiting on you to see it, wasn't sure if you caught my write up about the purchase. I'm shopping lifts right now, but I don't want to replace my factory wheels and tires yet, so I'm going to stay at 2" or less (for now). However the options seem endless and I'm having trouble deciding on just going with coil spacers or replacement coils or even a combo of the two from Rancho. Suggestions?

didn't see the write up, are those factory sport wheels or are they Rubi take-offs? (they look like Rubis)

The coil spacers are cheap and somewhat effective, I avoided them for 2 reasons. 1. flex. you gain no more suspension travel than stock. you get more ground clearance, but that's it. 2. shock mounts. these spacers come with shock relocation brackets instead of longer shocks. just adds more weak points.

I went with the Rough County 2.5" full suspension with 2.2 performance shocks (over relocation brackets). Can be had for <$400. Not the worlds greatest kit, but for the price of a well built spacer kit you can have a full suspension kit with longer, inverted mono-tube shocks. It is a bit stiff on the ride, but I didn't buy a truck because I wanted a smooth ride... Might look a bit funny with the factory 32" skins, but will give you room for 35"s should you choose to upgrade.

If you plan on running the factory wheels / tires for some time you might want to just get a body lift. Way cheaper, easy to install, sits right on the factory skins, and you dont have to sorry about suspension geometry or correcting steering angles (which needs to be done with ANY suspension upgrades).

For reference, here is my JKU with the factory wheels and 1.25" body lift.

Yes, they're factory wheels, same as what comes on the Rubicon. I have no idea how they wound up on a sport. Unless it's some random special order 24S or R or whatever package it was.

Thanks for the input. I'll give this some more thought and do some more research.

Here's the write up if you're interested:

Nice, what scale is that? Looks 1:43 from here, or an incredibly well done 1:64. Anyways, I got these from my old man:

These three from mums:

And I also got 300 bucks from gandma, and another 400 from a surgery a week or so ago, so I got some spending money as well. I'm planning on focusing on premium level diecast this year, and I gotta reorganize and store my standard collection to make space for the new cars, so I'll be taking it slow for now, like when I did when I started my first collection.

A pair of these at a second hand store before christmas

And this weekend I want to hopefully buy a pair of these. They're more of a necessity though.

And I don't count Hot Wheels as a christmas gift to myself because I'm always buying them.

1:43. I prefer the Minichamps stuff because they have most of the old grand prix cars. Plus, they take up less space.
